Registration Renewals

Section 36 of the Podiatrists Registration Act, 1995
provides for an application for renewal of registration
to be made to the Board by registered podiatrists in
respect of the registration year ending on 31 December
each year. A request for renewal is forwarded to the
postal address of each registered podiatrist in November
of every year.
Podiatrists are expected to meet certain conditions
in order to renew their registration.
* Podiatrists who have not actively practised podiatry
in the preceding five (5) years must show that they
would comply with requirements for entitlement for registration
outlined in Section 21 of the Act.
* Should a podiatrist not meet the requirements of Section
21 then the Board may not issue a new certificate.
* Podiatrists who do not provide evidence of adequate
professional indemnification will not be issued with
a certificate. Evidence required by the Board is a copy
of a current indemnity policy notice or a letter from
the employer or manager advising that the organisation
or business insurance arrangements cover the practice
of the podiatrist.
* Podiatrists who do not intend to practice for the
registration year may apply for an exemption from the
requirement to hold professional indemnity arrangements.
